In Korea, there's an old saying that goes,
"A frog in the well ." In English, there is
a similar proverb, "A big fish in a little pond." It means a person
of narrow views. And a narrow minded person
is believed to be self-righteous. So how can we escape from this?! Well, in my opinion, English is
the best way to prevent me from becoming a
frog in the well. English has broken down the walls of my limits, narrow views and it has also broken down the 'well'.

한국의 옛 속담에는 “우물 안 개구리”라는 말이 있습니다.
영어로 비슷한 속담은 “작은 호수의 큰 물고기”입니다. 이 뜻은 사람의 좁은 견해입니다. 그리고 그런 좁은식견을 가진 사람들은
독선적이라고 생각합니다. 어떻게 그것으로부터 벗어날 수 있을까요? 저의의견으로, 영어가 우물 안 개구리가 되지 않는 최고의 방법입니다. 영어는 저의
한계의 벽, 좁은 식견을 무너뜨립니다.   

I have three main reasons why English plays an
important role in the worldtoday.

저는 왜 영어가 세계에서
중요한 역할을 하고 있는 지에 대해 3가지 중요한 이유를 알고 있습니다.

First
of all, English tears down the walls of shrinking job markets. Including my
country, Korea, many countries are facing a serious unemployment crisis. I
should increase my competitiveness in order to
succeed in finding a job in spite of the
poor employment opportunities. The best way to be competitive during this time
of globalization is studying english. If I can't
speak English, the possibility to have a better
job and the chance to work abroad are quite impossible. Moreover, English
opens up endless possibilities in finding jobs.

첫 번째로, 영어는 좁은 구직시장을 해결합니다. 저의 나라 한국을 포함한 많은
국가들이 실업문제 겪고있습니다.  저는
저의 경쟁력이 열악한 고용 시장에서 많은 기회를 가져다 줄 것이라고 확신합니다. 국제화 시내에서 영어를
공부하는 것이 가장 최고의 경쟁력을 갖추는 방법입니다. 만약 제가 영어를 하지 못한다면 해외에서 일
할수 있는 기회가 줄어들 것입니다. 그리고 영어는 취직하는데 무한한 가능성을 열어줍니다.

 Secondly, English demolishes the barriers of
communication. Some linguists estimate that
there are over 6,000 languages in the world today. However, only few languages are used in the face of the world. As
industries and technologies have been
developed, among few languages, English has been regarded as the most important language used everywhere. Therefore, English
can make people communicate to each other.
For example, Korean and Filipino can communicate through English. If English didn't exist, they will have
difficulty in expressing their

opinions.

두 번째로 영어는 언어의
장벽을 무너뜨립니다. 몇몇 언어학자들은 오늘날 세계에 6000여개
이상의 언어가 존재한다고 예측했습니다. 그러나 세계에서 이용하고 있는 언어는 몇 가지 언어밖에 되지
않습니다. 산업과 기술이 발달함에 따라 언어들 중에 영어가 어느 장소에서 가장 중요한 언어로 여겨지고
있습니다. 게다가 영어는 세계의 여러사람들이 서로 의사소통 할 수 있게 만들 수 있습니다. 예를들어 한국인과 필리핀사람들은 영어를 통하여 의사소통 할 수 있습니다. 그러나
영어가 존재하지 않는다면 그들은 서로의 의견을 표현하는데에 어려움을 가질 것입니다.

Finally, English is helpful in breaking the walls
of prejudice, too. The reason why I'm
learning English is not just for improving my 'language' skills, but also
gaining more knowledge about different
'culture' through English. Learning english makes me understand many different cultures, and understanding
other cultures helps me overcome prejudice
caused by limited scope.

마지막으로 영어는 편견의
벽을 허무는데 도움이 됩니다. 제가 영어를 공부하는 이유는 단순히 저의 언어구사력을 발전시키기 위한
것뿐만 아니라 영어를 통해서 다른 문화를 이해하고 알고 싶기 때문입니다. 영어를 배우는 것은 저에게
다른 많은 문화를 이해하게 해줍니다.  그리고
다른 문화를 이해하는 것은 그들의 제한된 시야로부터 편견을 극복하는데 튼 도움이 됩니다.

 In short, in the world of English, I can keep
myself off becoming a frog in the well through. breaking down the walls. Before I
study English, I was a frog in the small well who knew nothing of the great ocean.
However, I'm not a frog anymore in the world of English. That's why I continue to
learn English in K-pelis.

저는 영어를 통해 우물 안의
개구리가 되지 않게 저 자신을 지킬 수 있습니다. 영어를 공부하기 이전 저는 넓은바다 안에서 아무것도
모르는 우물 안 개구리였습니다. 그러나 저는 더 이상 우물 안 개구리가 아닙니다. 그것이 바로 제가 k-pelis에서 여전히 영어를 배우고 있는 이유입니다.
